Maternity Shoot in Northumberland

When Rebecca got in contact with me about photographing a maternity shoot with her and Alan in Northumberland, I practically jumped at the chance. A maternity shoot had been on my photography bucket list for ages and it did not disappoint!

We chose to head down to Sugarsands beach in Longhoughton as this secluded little spot has some golden sandy bays, catches the evening sun and isn’t usually as busy as other beaches in Nothumberland - although I have no idea why!

Alan and Rebecca wore the same outfits that Alan proposed in just over a year ago - which I thought was a really sweet touch and shows just how far they’ve come in a 12 months! Despite being a little uncomfortable at 8 months pregnant, Rebecca was awesome, she still managed to twirl, walk and relax into every pose - even on a chilly evening in February!

And to top it off, a massive congratulations to you both! Your little girl was born this week and I know just how proud and excited you must be - good luck with your new little family unit! X

Jenny and John’s Intimate Durham Wedding

Hello and Happy Friday!

This year’s wedding season is just around the corner and so whilst I am nearly caught up with all my ‘Wedmin’ I thought I’d show what I’ve been up to over the Christmas period.

John and Jenny contacted me in late autumn and asked me to photograph their small, intimate wedding service in Durham in-between Christmas and New Year. Earlier that year they had both said their ‘I Do’s’ in America and were donning their wedding attire for the second time to celebrate with John’s English family here in Northumberland.

With a festive feel still in the air, John and Jenny’s day was filled with laughter and winter sunshine. I loved sharing this special occasion with them and particularly stopping off at John’s former local pub for a quick pint before the ceremony.

Wedding day goals indeed!

Jewellery Shoot in Alnmouth

I know, I know, quality over quantity but what’s a girl supposed to do when I love every shot and I am indecisive as hell? POST THEM ALL.

I am super excited to show you these images from a real wintery jewellery shoot I photographed for the lovely Salt & Co.

Martha runs a local jewellery business in Northumberland and has created some wonderful quality silver pieces. Please do check out her stuff, especially if you are looking for some last minute special stocking fillers!

Shout out to Scotts of Alnmouth for the great coffee and for letting us use your cosy café.

Happy Friday!!

Canadian Destination Wedding

Get ready this is a biggie!

*Whimsical flashback for context*

4 years ago when I was studying photography at university I did an exchange term at OCAD University in Toronto. Not only was it one of the best experiences of my life, I was also introduced to some amazing things.

One of those things was Tim Horton’s maple glazed donuts and the other was Heike Reuse.

I never imagined that 4 years later I would be back in Ontario photographing Heike walk down the aisle towards Rudi; a difficult task through very teary eyes!

Heike and Rudi tied the knot in the beautiful Balls Falls Conservation area in Niagara. (Yes it really is called Balls Falls)

Heike and Rudi decorated their unique DIY barn venue themselves with the help of all their family and friends. Many months of planning all came together on one sunny Fall morning and the barn was transformed before my eyes into a eucalyptus filled, boho-chic dream.

The sun shone through autumnal maple leaves and we were gifted with some stunning Canadian evening light.

The whole day felt completely centered around the joining of family and friends.

Heike’s sister in law Jennifer (who is handily a certified make up artist) did all of the bridal party’s make up. Heike wore her mom’s shoes to walk down the aisle.  Rudi’s Hungarian family travelled all the way over to Canada to be there. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the barn during Heike’s childhood friend Suzanna’s speech and the father daughter dance was simply beautiful. And don’t even get me started on their puppy Luna who joined us for the couple photographs! This wedding had everything from gluten free cupcakes to charitable ‘Me to We’ tea as wedding favours.

Thank you Heike and Rudi for inviting me to celebrate with you. It was a joy and an honour. I really felt like an honorary bridesmaid.

It was most definitely the highlight of my year. <3

Bamburgh Engagement Shoot

Driving to Bamburgh for Lauren and Andrew’s engagement shoot last weekend with the heating full blast and the wipers going, I was beginning to wonder why I hadn’t just rescheduled the shoot, it was clearly going to be one of those typical Northumberland days where the rain just won’t let up.

However Lauren and Andrew are clearly made of more hardy stuff coming from the Scottish borders! They were undeterred by the rain and their positivity and connection shone through making the shoot full of energy and laughter. We quickly swapped ‘summer vibe’ we had originally intended and opted for the windswept and mysterious look instead. You guys were a blast! I can’t wait to photograph your wedding up at Ednam House up in the borders next year.

Sam & James - Golden hour at Alnmouth Beach

I have been very excited to share this couple photo shoot at Alnmouth South Beach in Northumberland. Any loyal Instagram followers (hi mum) may have already seen some sneaky previews of this shoot and know how much I love these images.

Earlier this year, Sam and James booked me for their Northumberland country wedding at Newton Hall and they were particularly keen to have their engagement photo shoot at Alnmouth South beach. This is a beach that is really only accessible by a 4x4 or for those determined enough in a small Toyota Aygo (R.I.P my suspension) For this reason the beach is always secluded and quiet compared to Alnmouth’s main beach on the opposite side of the bay.

Sam and James told me that they spend a lot of time here walking their Labrador Milly, who came along for the shoot too. They showed me the spot where they will often set up for the afternoon with a beach fire, a BBQ and do a spot of fishing in the estuary.

As the afternoon faded to evening we set off for a walk in the golden hour sun along the beach. We enjoyed a relaxed photo shoot as we chatted about their wedding in August. Sam and James are such an easy going, lovely couple with a deep and genuine connection. The light was perfect and Milly was a star - this is definitely one of my favourite shoots this year.

Kelsey & Jonathan - The Proposal

What do you get when you mix a chance Instagram message, a whistle-stop European trip, arguably the biggest ever Harry Potter fan, one surprise proposal and the effective use of Google street view?…Pure happiness!

I couldn’t have been more excited when Jonathan got in touch over Instagram to inquire about a secret proposal shoot in Alnwick Castle. Jonathan and his girlfriend Kelsey are from America and were spending some time exploring the U.K and Iceland.

During his time in the North East, Alnwick Castle i.e ‘the Harry Potter Castle’, was a must see. Kelsey is hands down the biggest Harry Potter fan I have ever met, I am talking falling asleep to audio books every night kind of fan.

Over the next few weeks, plans fell into place mainly through extensive usage of google maps to find the perfect spot. We had a time, a location and a rough idea of what each other looked like. It was all systems go.

Despite my initial nerves (think of all the variables!) I couldn’t have been more pleased with how this proposal shoot went. The main reason being that Kelsey and Jonathan are, as you can see, just the happiest, most fun loving couple. It was such a joy to be able to share that wonderful moment with them.

Congratulations to Kelsey and Jonathan on their happy engagement!
